“Fats ≠ Magic”

Hey Reader,

Have you heard of nutritional periodization? If not, read to the end of this email.

First, the elephant in the room. High fat diets are overrated.

You don’t need more than 20-25% of your daily calories from fat.

That’s enough to support hormones and absorb fat-soluble vitamins — even less so if you’re on hormone replacement therapy (HRT), where your hormonal baseline is already supported.

But here’s the kicker…

More fat doesn’t = more performance.

In fact, going high-fat usually backfires because:

  • Fats are calorie dense (easy to overeat–measure your peanut butter and prepare to pick your jaw off the floor)
  • Extra fat doesn’t help reduce stress, improve training, build muscle or fuel workouts like carbs do.

Suffice to say, the people with the best physiques in the world and the best performers in the world often eat a diet that’s high protein, moderate-high carbs, and lower in fat.

Does that mean periods of eating more fat is bad?

No, of course not.

If eating higher fat, lower carb works better for you during fat loss because you can control calories– awesome.

But, there’s a difference between optimal and what works.

That’s why we use what’s called nutritional periodization.

With our clients, we like to start with a lower carb, intermittent fasting approach. It improves insulin sensitivity and our clients lose the first 10lbs like it’s nothin’.

As they get leaner, they can handle carbs better–and we implement carb cycling.

And once they graduate from that phase, we implement our 4:2:1 Flexible Fat Loss Approach– which has some high calorie days, some low calorie days, and an “off day” for a mental and physical break.

But there’s the thing:

The diet that loses the first 10lbs of fat is different from the one that loses the last 10 lbs of fat.

And the approach that worked at 25 probably won’t work at 40.

That’s where so many people get stuck– they replay what used to work, not factoring in that they have different…

  • Lifestyle.
  • Stress levels.
  • Hormone levels.
  • Body composition…

That they did years ago.

When they try to repeat “what used to work” it’s like taking a test in calculus but all you know is geometry.

If you’re ready to get unstuck and finally operate at peak performance–physically and mentally, we have the system dialed in.

Now, let’s plug it into your life and finally get the results you deserve.

I was flying to Nashville yesterday and struck up a chat with the guy sitting next to me. After telling him what I do, he said… “The only way I can lose weight is if I start running and cut carbs… I know it’s not ideal, but it’s what worked before.” I hear this all the time.
