In this edition, I’m going to break down…

  • What’s more important…lifting heavier or getting a pump?
  • The Mental Reframe to Overcome “Busyness” As An Excuse For Poor Health
  • How One Client lost 20 lbs of fat and gained 10 lbs of muscle since the Holidays.

Want to Build Muscle? Get Stronger. Period.

A new review confirms what we’ve known all along: mechanical tension—not the pump, not soreness, not fancy methods—is the key driver of muscle growth.

Muscle damage and metabolic stress? Overhyped. They might play supporting roles, but they don’t build muscle on their own.

What does?

Progressive overload. Lifting more weight. Lifting with more control. Creating more tension over time.

If you’re not getting stronger in the 5–12 rep range, your gains will stall—no matter how sweaty or sore you get.

Don’t chase “calorie burn” or soreness. Chase strength. Tension is king.

Challenges: Embrace Busy-ness.

Ever feel like you're facing the same challenges on repeat?

You're not stuck—you're being prepared.

A high jumper once told his coach he choked under pressure at local meets. His coach asked, “Will there be more pressure at Nationals? The Olympics?”

“Yes.”

“Then this pressure isn’t the problem—it’s the proving ground.”

Same goes for you. Maybe your obstacle is time, travel, kids, or energy. That’s not the reason you can’t succeed—it’s the exact reason you must.

The obstacle is the path.

So if life is looking “busy for summer” and you think you need to take a break for training…think again. That’s how you stay stuck.

Instead…Lean into it. Conquer it. Grow because of it.

That’s why we coach. To help you rise under pressure—not run from it.

Client Spotlight:

Huge shout out to Mr. “C”. This gentlemen (who prefers to be anonymous) runs a construction business in California. Despite the demands on his schedule, he’s made a commitment to his health over the last six months.

So far, he’s down 21lbs of fat, up 10lbs of muscle, and has increased his metabolic rate by over 100 calories per day at 10.6 body fat…Oh….and he’s 41 years old. Way to go, brother!

Done.No equipment, no excuses.2. Use Intermittent FastingWhen I travel, I eat out more — especially at night. So I push my first...

I’ve helped hundreds of men transform their bodies, optimize their routines, and become better leaders and partners. But now, I’m making a transformation of my own—and I want to be transparent with you about it. Last week, I started testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). Why am I telling you this? Because transparency is sorely lacking in the fitness industry. I’m not here to posture or pretend. And frankly, it frustrates me when people claim a natural physique that’s only possible with...
