Where's your body going to be in September?


90 days.

That's what you've got before Labor Day, football season, and back-to-school night.

90 days is enough time to change your body. Not "feel better." Not "drop a few." Actually different. The kind of different that gets noticed at the cookout. The kind your wife mentions to her sister.

90 days is also enough time to do absolutely nothing. To keep telling yourself you'll start "after the trip." Or "once the kids are in school." Or "when work calms down."

Work isn't going to calm down. The kids aren't going to school. The trip is one of seven trips.

You know this. You've been running this exact play for the better part of a decade.

Here's what happens if you don't start this week.

You show up to Labor Day weekend in the same shirt you wore last year. Same waistline. Same vacation photo you'll scroll past in October and pretend doesn't bother you.

You stand next to other dads at back-to-school night and notice the gap. You don't say anything. You just feel it.

Your kid asks if you'll come outside and throw the ball. You say yes. You're winded by the third throw. He notices. You hope he doesn't.

That's the math if you don't start.

If you do start? Different math.
